Rubin Family Vacation

Marc, RE and Allie got outta town ahead of the BIG snowstorm and had a quick and easy flight to Grand Cayman this morning. The island is beautiful and we had a lovely drive along the shoreline about 20 miles to the East End of the island. Since it's Christmas, nothing was open except the Mini Mart at the Texaco gas station. We bought some tonic water to go with the vodka that we had the foresight to buy at Duty Free.

We arrived at the house which is PERFECT! It's right on the beach, with a pool, decks, big porch and comfy furniture. Our beach is TOTALLY private. There are some kayaks under the porch which we shall pull out and try tomorrow morning. Water is warm and pristine.

So, we made a drink, went down to the beach and then realized we were hungry. (Nothing is open.) We have our own coconut palm trees and RE shimmied up and got Allie a coconut to eat.

As you can see, we didn't have a machete or anything to crack it open....so we got dressed and found a restaurant open. Thank god! We had a delicious - although really expensive - dinner. Once the supermarket opens (not till Monday) we expect to be cooking on our grill and dining on our beach.

For our main activity, we are Google Chatting with Becky online trying to figure out how she and Steve are going to get here since their flight is due to leave NY on Monday morning during the height of the blizzard. To be continued....

In summary -- it's a beautiful place and we are extremely relaxed. Already trying to figure when we can come back.

  3. Hum....looking out at snow blowing sideways or relaxing in a kayak. You are missing a biggie. Shelley and Max slept over and are on the way to Philly for a family bris in the morning. Good luck on that. Think I'll make some oatmeal raisin cookies and watch the snow pile up. Have a wonderful time....it looks amazing. When ARE ya'll coming back to us? Hope Sequoia's mom is doing well. Love to all.
